TEAM ENERGY
Today after continuously trying for a week, I got an appointment with a group of people. They were seven, who have been elected by their colleagues to represent the entire battalion of police personnel.
Almost every state has police personnel to take care of various administrative works. According to the nature of work, the state or the central government has established different battalions comprising of fixed numbers. Each battalion has a group of representatives to take care of the welfare of the battalions. These groups of people are elected once in three years. The department has provided an office for them. The representatives have different designations and duties. The designation such as president, secretary, treasurer etc. These people play a vital role in the implementation of welfare schemes by the department.
We reached the association office five minutes late due to traffic on the roads. We wanted to establish business relationships. They welcomed us warmly.
When we entered their clean and tidy campus, we were given warm welcome followed by high tea. As the talk continued we came to know the various challenges faced by them. One among them is as followed.
The president of the association said that ten years ago he was posted in one of the remote areas. There was no proper road, no electricity, no mobile network, no village, and no proper drinking water above all they had to walk miles to reach the place. They went there just because they were deputed there. The government has started developmental schemes, the schemes should reach the needy without any problems. And it came to the needy only because of the people.
Once it happened that a group of seven police personnel were patrolling by Bolero, and due to a technical fault in the engine Bolero got stuck. It was evening, and they were in the middle of the jungle, from both sides they have to walk 20 kilometres to reach any residential area. For sometimes they tried to solve the fault but with no result. Finally, after giving it much thought they decided to walk, encouraging each other. The area is known for naxal attacks, individually all were shivering from the fear, but it was group energy which was helping them to move. They were not getting afraid of wild animals but of human attacks. After walking for hours they reached their camps.
That particular day they learnt one of the valuable lessons of life. That it is very easy to encourage your team members and the act itself encourages you to face the challenges.
Team spirit plays a vital role in facing individual challenges. When stuck in difficult situations every body encourages each other and a superpower is generated from within.
